My friend Hollie drew this when we were spending our days with pregnant women in India, for most of 2007. I really love this. That year I was very aware of my earthen-ness: the heat, the crowds, dirt floors in tents, team dynamics, loneliness, extreme poverty, injustice and suffering.
But we have this treasure.
I still often feel very much like I'm made of clay or dirt, close to crumbling and definitely cracking. But still, in more ways than one, I'm seen fit to carry a treasure. This is extremely humbling.
And you, my friend, are too.
